down south, life goes on…

It’s been a wierd week, I lost a mate from down south, a inspiring man with far too few years under his belt. It’s put my own mortality into perpective and made me realise we are truly blessed to be here. More now than ever I’m going to commit to making the most of the days I have, living through experience and taking some photos along the way, to hopefully, one day, inpire others to do the same.
I know Jonno would approve.
Thanks for the inspiration fella, we will miss ya. RIP.

so back in march I spent 8 days aboard the good ship Billy Rowney out of newlyn to shoot stills for a new Discovery Channel series, ‘Trawler Wars‘ …what a week. Just found out that the show is going to air from the 26th September. Ace.

“Be as I am-a reluctant enthusiast… a part time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it is still there. So get out there and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, climb the mountains. Run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, that lovely, mysterious and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to your body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much: I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those deskbound people with their hearts in a safe deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators.
I promise you this: you will outlive the bastards”
Edward Abbey
yes sir.
(thanks to Project-O for the inspiration)

last week I took a little trip up to the Outer Hebrides, a little scouting mission for a project I’ve got coming up. So I grabbed two friends, a chef and a musician, packed Renee (the van) up with a bunch of waveriding equipment, wellies, fishing poles and a ukulele and headed north in the slow lane…this is a gallery of how it all went down…

…just epic, I’m going back
p.s chefs and musicians are just the best travel companions…
